2020 is definitely going to go down in history as a remarkable, unforgettable year. It has brought many new challenges to the lives of everybody. COVID-19 and the ways that it has affected people highlight a major challenge for students graduating this month.
Students graduating this month are in a tricky situation when it comes to finding a job out of college. The pandemic created a lot of uncertainty in regard to the job market. Businesses all over the world had to furlough employees because they could not take the risk of their businesses shutting down for good. Now, college graduates will have to work harder than ever to find reliable jobs from limited amounts of companies that can afford to hire.
Several Marian students that are graduating this month have found the ability to find jobs during these special circumstances. Elena Horen is graduating this month with a double major in business management and communication. Horen has accepted her first job offer out of college through Orr Fellowship at Advisa. The Orr Fellowship is a two-year program that places top recruited college graduates at innovative host companies around Indianapolis. Horen is ecstatic to announce that she has been chosen as one of the participants in this great fellowship.
While some students have been lucky to find jobs right out of college, others have not. Finding a job right out of college is not for everybody. Some have taken a totally different route for life after college. The United States Military provides options and incentives for individuals with a degree, who want to serve their country. While this is not your stereotypical job, it is absolutely a job, and one that allows for tremendous amounts of growth on the way.
The pandemic has caused everybody to encounter many challenges throughout the past year, but challenges can be overcome. The same goes for finding a job out of college. It might be a challenge, but it can be overcome.
