In the last issue, we talked to Marian Students about their favorite and least favorite places to get food.  So, why not travel to some of these locations and see what’s cooking?

Every Monday, the line wraps around the POD Market in the Evan’s Center.  You can smell the spices right when you enter the Nursing Building.  Chick-Fil-A is served from 11 AM to 1 PM every Monday until the restaurant chain opens a location in Alumni Hall this winter.

History of Chick-Fil-A

According to their website, Chick-Fil-A opened in May of 1946 in Hapeville, Georgia.  It became popular in the late 80s and early 90s with the “Eat Mor Chickin” campaign.  People cruise to Chick-Fil-A for their chicken sandwiches, nuggets and lemonade.  The most popular sauce at Chick-Fil-A is named “Chick-Fil-A sauce,” which came out in 1983.  Chick-Fil-A on campus has a limited menu serving only Chicken Sandwiches (Regular, Spicy), Chicken Nuggets, Waffle Chips, and Cookies.  If you want drinks, you can get them from the POD Market.

What do people get at Chick-Fil-A?

“Sandwiches sell the best,” the Chick-Fil-A worker remarked. I was unable to obtain his name “We normally sell 300-350 sandwiches every Monday and 150-200 bags of nuggets.”

Several students talked about what they got. Senior English Maria Gropp ordered Chicken Nuggets with Chick-Fil-A sauce. It’s pretty out of the way, and I forget that they are on Campus on Mondays. Gropp said she is counting down the days until Chick-Fil-A opens in Alumni.

What did I order?

I got a Spicy Chicken Sandwich, an order of Chicken Nuggets and 2 Chick-Fil-A sauces.  I found myself eating the nuggets first and they were okay.  I ordered eight nuggets and I only had six in my bag.

My sandwich was absolutely wonderful!  The packet says, “May start mouth fires.”  The burn was tasty.  I love spicy food, and this sandwich will be ordered again.

What is my rating?

Now I am in no way a food critic, but I feel like I know good food.  Chick-Fil-A on campus was delicious.  The chicken was typical Chick-Fil-A and while the line was long, I got my food in a reasonable amount of time.

I’m gonna give Chick-Fil-A on campus a 9/10.  The food was good, but with a limited selection and my order not being fulfilled in its entirety, it’s not a 10.  However, it’s definitely a contender for the best food on campus.
