Marian University offers yoga classes every Tuesday at 12 p.m. and Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the Fitness Room in the Drew Family Health and Fitness Center.
“My favorite aspect of yoga is the relaxation,” said Ariela, Myriad Yoga instructor.
All Wednesday sessions are taught by Ariela. She works at Myriad Yoga in Indianapolis and is teaching yoga at Marian through a corporate class opportunity.
“Yoga class has helped ease my anxieties and calms my mind,” said Maria Gropp, senior in English.
Ariela taught yoga last semester as well and noticed that now there are more students in her Wednesday sessions than in the past. She suggested that if people practice yoga just twice a week, they will start to see improvements.
“Yoga is an ancient and complex practice, rooted in Indian philosophy. It began as a spiritual practice but has become popular as a way of promoting physical and mental well-being,” According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health.
Yoga can be an intense workout but its foundation is built on both the physical and nonsecular necessities for an overall healthy life.
