Marian university hosted its annual AlumnKnight event on October 17, 2024. Celebrating alumni with a medieval-themed evening, brought together past students to share their experiences and insights with current students. Arranged by the unity center in collaboration with the 21st
scholars’ program, the event presented a lively panel discussion where alumni discussed their college journeys and life after graduation.
The event was held in the University’s Alumni Hall in the evening at 6pm. This gave students the opportunity to receive advice about navigating life after college. Their discussion panel made it possible for their audience to interact with them on a personal level. There were four panelists, all of whom are Marian Alumnus. They all shared their personal stories and insights into what they went through at Marian University and how they felt during their transition from college into an independent lifestyle with a job.
“People always say after college you have to work a 9-to-5, but this is
not the case,” said Trey Gibson, an alum from the class of 2024.
The event’s medieval theme added festivity, with attendees showing off their costumes inspired by the era. The meals provided embraced the theme, offering students and alumni an experience to live through a different time. The unity center’s director Angelica Smith embraced the role of Queen of Hearts. They had several activities such as a dragon bounce house, face painting, medieval dancing, caricature art, raffles, and a fire dancing show.
“I really enjoyed this event, it was really fun, and I enjoyed doing the face paint.” Said Cassie Mitchell, attendee. “I enjoyed the experience of seeing how the Marian Alum live their lives outside of Marian.”
The audience responded well to this event and its activities.
