As a college student who majors in Communication, Joel learned many ways to connect to people. Ever since he was young, he always enjoyed helping others. When he was around ten years old, his family arrived here in the U.S. Nobody in his family spoke English, including himself. He learned English after three months in Indiana and he has been translating pretty much everything for his family and family friends. Some days, it is just a simple phone call to internet providers. However, there are more challenging days when he has to translate for medically related letters and even take others to the hospital and interpret for them. Now, he also has two other positions in his community that he really enjoys. He is a leader in his church’s College Ministry. He is also a Treasurer in an organization on campus. He is excited to get to meet and connect with people!
