The Exchange Career Center hosted Networking Knights on Sept. 18 and 20. According to its website, this event is designed for students to practice their networking skills with employers and campus partners in a judgment-free zone. For many students, this is their first time practicing their elevator pitch in front of employers.
“Having experiences like this is one of the many things that Marian does to help prepare students for internships, jobs, and other opportunities.” said sophomore Murray Ross-Harmon, an exercise and sports science major. While the event is targeted to those enrolled in BUS 200 Careers in Business course, the event is open to all students.
Lauren Kenny, a Marian Alumni and ORR Fellow, attended the event representing the Indy Chamber.
“I love giving back to Marian, so being able to connect with students and help them better prepare for experiences after college is very valuable to me,” she said.
Briannah Bieghler, the Director of Internships and Assessment said the university loves hosting this event because it provides students a safe and controlled learning environment. Students know that if they mess up there are no stakes involved. She also said this event is a chance for students to polish up based on employer feedback ahead of Career and Internship Fairs later in the semester.
