INDIANAPOLIS — Marian University is expanding its yoga program, offering students more opportunities to stay active while focusing on mental and physical well-being.
With a variety of student activities available on campus — including clubs, fitness facilities and group classes — yoga has recently seen increased promotion and participation. The program continues to grow as more students look for ways to manage stress and stay connected to their health.
On Feb. 4, Marian yoga instructor Brandy [last name], who began teaching at the university in 2025, shared insight into the program’s development and its impact on students. She said her goal is to help students stay active while also encouraging mindfulness through yoga practice.
“Yoga is really about connecting the mind

and body,” Brandy said. “It might look really hard or intimidating, but if you come in with an open mind, there’s something for everyone. That could be breath work, stillness or simply learning to feel more in control of your body.”
Brandy emphasized that yoga is accessible to all students, even those who may feel hesitant to try it. She noted that classes include modifications and different approaches to ensure participants of all skill levels feel comfortable.
“Maybe it’s the opportunity to come home to your body,” she said. “There are so many ways to practice, whether that’s movement or meditation.”
Marian’s yoga classes are open to all experience levels and continue to prioritize inclusivity, particularly for beginners or those who may find yoga challenging. As the program grows, it aims to provide students with a supportive environment to improve both physical health and mental clarity.
