INDIANAPOLIS — Marian men’s basketball showed early energy but could not keep pace with Indiana Wesleyan, falling 91–64 Wednesday night at home.
Indiana Wesleyan opened the game on an 8-3 run, but Marian quickly responded behind a hot start from Dylan Moles. Moles scored aggressively in the opening minutes, at one point matching the Wildcats’ total on his own and giving the Knights an early spark. Contributions from Aaron Humphrey Jr. helped Marian briefly take the lead as both teams traded baskets.
The Wildcats regained control as the game progressed, using consistent shooting and rebounding to build momentum.
In the second half, both teams came out strong from beyond the arc, including a 3-pointer from Ron Rutland III. Moles and Rutland helped Marian chip away at the deficit, but Indiana Wesleyan answered each run, eventually stretching its lead back to double digits.
Marian continued to battle, with Luke Carroll, Aidan Franks and Rutland contributing key baskets. However, Indiana Wesleyan closed the game on a decisive run to secure the win.
Moles led the Knights with 22 points, highlighted by his dominant early performance. Josiah Gustin added 11 points, while Franks finished with eight. Rutland III led the team in both assists and steals.
