Submissions for Roses & Thorns Now Open!

Have you recently been the recipient of someone’s good deeds and had your spirits rise? Perhaps you had a bummer day that suddenly transformed into a joyful day thanks to someone lending you a helping hand. Did a kind stranger or loyal friend perform an extraordinary, yet out-of-ordinary act recently that you feel deserves some kind of recognition? Are you feeling thankful for an enriching and generous professor? How about a thanks in the form of a rose?

Or

Has someone, or something, recently been cramping your style? Perhaps someone neglected to hold the door for you and you were left with either injuries or a bad attitude–or both. Has the cafeteria food left you with food poisoning that puts a bit of a damper on your previously upbeat attitude? Do you want to vent about your frustrations and ill misfortunes from your time on campus or off campus? How about a space of relief in the form of a thorn?

With Roses & Thorns, you now have the opportunity to anonymously bring awareness to the good deeds as well as the wrongdoings of your life on campus and at home with our short note feature. When writing a short note about your day, remember: a rose represents the best and most special parts of your day and a thorn represents the most difficult or frustrating parts of your day. Roses & Thorns serves as your virtual means of inciting change for the negatives and to return kindness to the positive people who made a positive impact in your day. The world can be a loving or a harsh place. Instead of letting each moment slide by, why not write about it in the form of a rose or a thorn?
