On March 21, from noon to 1 p.m, Love on a Leash brought a golden retriever, Newfoundland, Chocolate Lab, and two cocker spaniels, to the Evans Center Atrium for Therapy Dog Thursday.

Therapy Dog Thursday is a weekly hour in which Marian University allows for the company, Love on a Leash, to bring therapy dogs to campus, and provide animal-loving students with the opportunity for a mental health break.

Love on a Leash provides a certification process for both therapy pets and their owners. All team members, human and animal alike, are trained to be professionals and anticipate plenty of socializing and attention from their visitors.

Love on a Leash is a nationwide nonprofit dedicated to providing pet therapy and bringing more awareness to the benefits of the methodology. Pet therapy can help people de-stress, provide comfort, and increase a person’s happiness.

“We take our team all over the place. Nursing homes, libraries… but my favorite place is taking our therapy care team to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center. The kids there really love and appreciate the dogs,” said Gina Ressler, Love on a Leash volunteer.
