A new student-made sticker company, Marian Sticker Co., is now open for business. Their designs feature ‘famous’ people and landmarks around campus, serving students and beyond.
Marian Sticker Co. was founded through a known event and class on campus; The BUS-109 class and competition. After winning multiple rounds of presentations to professors and Indianapolis investors, the team was selected to win a loan out of nineteen other teams, making their business idea a reality.
The winning BUS-109 team is made up of five members; Peter Waning, Caleb Del Valle, Kaitlyn Mcname, James Ashworth and Lucas Steward. Each student has different strengths that serves a different role within the company.
“Each person brings something to the team,” said Caleb Del Valle, “We work well together.”
Marian Sticker Co. has gained traction around campus unlike other BUS-109 competition teams and winners before. Their advertisements have been featured on main Instagram accounts for athletic teams, and most importantly, Marian University’s main account. The team attributes their success to networking and building connections.
“Kaitlyn had the connection with Sock Religious, which is where we get our stickers from, she used to work there,” Said Peter Waning.
Throughout the years, many other students in the BUS-109 competition have created similar products. The stickers designed and produced by Marian Sticker Co. are niche and appealing because of the particular people and buildings being depicted. Their product took off once they presented their ideas to different offices around campus.
“At first we were a little rocky on the idea,” Said Peter Waning, “We made different designs, presented them in front of different offices, and that’s how the ball started rolling.”
Some of their most popular sticker designs include Miss Wanda, President Dan Elsner, The Exchange Couch, and Clare and Doyle Hall. All designs are designed by team member, Kaitlyn Mcname, a former graphic design student. All stickers designed by Marian Sticker Co. can be customized.
The team plans to stay together throughout the remainder of College, as they have seen massive success so far. They are currently working on future products, such as stickers for the Eco-Lab.
The team is currently looking at expanding their customized products beyond Marian University to other businesses.
