The Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) hosted a tea tasting event on Nov. 13 between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. in the atrium of the Evans Center. The event stood to celebrate International Education and Cultural Appreciation Week. The APAMSA members offered five types of teas for students to try and Lotus Biscoff cookies as a snack.
“Tea is such a big part of Asian culture,” said Rachel Martin, second year medical student and member of APAMSA.
Martin said they received an opportunity to host an event to commemorate this week’s themes and they decided providing hot tea would be the best way to introduce students to Asian culture.
“I decided to come to the event because I love tea. They had a lot of options and all seemed great. I ended up trying the oolong tea and it was really good,” said Lyric Williams, sophomore in chemistry.
While tasting the teas, students were encouraged to sign up for the APAMSA emailing list in order to receive details about later events like the Lunar New Year celebration they will be hosting in February.
