Missionaries from Damascus joined Marian University students on

Wednesday, Oct. 22, for an “Awake Night” of adoration, praise, and worship in the Bishop Chartrand Memorial Chapel.
Damascus is a missionary organization dedicated to promoting the Catholic faith among young people through retreats and worship events across the Midwest and East Coast, according to its website.
“The heart of the message we want to bring tonight is the reality of God,” Zach said, one of the visiting missionaries. “And how you can encounter him.”
Throughout the evening, missionaries led worship music, prayed with students, and shared personal testimonies of faith.
Awake Night is a monthly event hosted by Marian Campus Ministry. It centers on Eucharistic adoration—the Roman Catholic practice of worshipping Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. Priests are also available for confession during the event.
The series has drawn increasing student interest.
“We’re thinking of more praise and worship,” said the Rev. Rick Martignetti, Marian’s chaplain. “People are saying one Awake Night a month is not enough, which is a great thing to hear.”
The next Awake Night will take place on Nov. 13.
